“As the Hon. Member Representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, any community can call me that this is their problem. I’m not bigger than any community, I’m not even bigger than any individual here because you elected me to represent you. Your matter is my matter.”
Hon. Ambaiowei implored the community to prioritize peace, as the well-being of everyone is at stake. He acknowledged the collective efforts of the Amassoma community in his own election to the House of Representatives and stressed the need to continue working together for the benefit of all.
Since his inauguration in the House of Representatives on June 13, 2023, Hon. Ambaiowei has gone above and beyond expectations, surpassing the accomplishments of his predecessors within just one year in office. It is clear that his dedication and commitment to his constituents are unwavering.
Hon. Engr. Rodney Ambaiowei can be likened to the biblical David who defended the people of Israel in the face of daunting challenges, especially when intimidated by the giant from Philistine, Goliath who boasted to defy the God and people of Israel in the field of battle but as a rare and unique personality, he stood out and led the party to victory in the 2023 general election in Southern ijaw Federal Constituency. On the 16th day of April, 2023 he was declared winner after the conclusion of the supplementary election, polling a total of 13,992 votes against his close contender, the candidate of APC who polled 12,992 votes.
Hon. Rodney recommended the formation of a committee comprising three members from each Ama in Amassoma (a man, woman, and youth), who will be responsible for proposing guidelines within two weeks for the selection of the next Amanana-owei. The ultimate aim is to foster the progress and development of the community.
