The commendations came during a special edition of Talk to Bayelsa, an audience-participatory programme on Radio Bayelsa, where listeners hailed Pastor Mohammed’s newly published books: Scions of the Pen: Who’s Who in Bayelsa State Journalism, Beautiful Bayelsa, and So-Long Bayelsa.

Callers including Mr Lawson, Mr Ayeh, Mr Adewale, Mr James, and Mr Penaowei described the books as a “monumental contribution” to Bayelsa’s intellectual heritage, democratic culture, and literary development. They praised the author’s courage, consistency, and commitment to telling the Bayelsa story through a journalist’s lens.

“This is more than a collection of books; it’s a valuable resource for students, researchers, and the general public,” said one contributor. “Pastor Mohammed’s journey is deeply intertwined with the evolution of the state itself.”

Pastor Mohammed, speaking on the programme, recounted the extensive process behind the creation of the books, which she said took several years of research and documentation. She described the publications as “a labour of resilience”, inspired by the desire to create a lasting record of Bayelsa’s people, places, and political journey.

“I wanted to create an experience – not just a book,” she said. “These stories represent our collective memory and identity as Bayelsans.”

Chairman of the Book Launch Committee, Comrade Nelson Agadi, also featured on the programme, describing the works as “essential reading for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Bayelsa – through words and pictures.”

He attributed the books’ depth and authenticity to Pastor Mohammed’s upbringing, education, and passion for the state, and praised the Bayelsa State Government – particularly Governor Douye Diri, Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai – for their support.

Agadi announced that the public presentation of the books will be held next Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the TUC State Secretariat Hall, located beside the State Library off Sani Abacha Expressway, Amarata, Yenagoa.

He encouraged members of the public to attend and engage with the works that aim to preserve Bayelsa’s rich legacy for future generations.
