The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri, has called on youths to shun violence, drugs, and cultism. Governor Diri made the call at the 164th State Executive Council meeting held at the Exco Chambers of Government House, Yenagoa. While addressing the recent upsurge of cult killings in the state, the governor noted that…
“We used to think we had two Presidents in Nigeria: Tinubu and Wike. Now, we know Wike has a boss who can checkmate his excesses. How I wish you had also stopped his reckless disruption of the Sim Fubara government in Rivers State and saved the hapless people from this unfortunate contraption called emergency rule. Nigerians are currently undergoing immense hardship and pain, and you need to rescue them from Wike’s additional burdens and insults. Wike’s assignments are far smaller than those of Minister Dave Umahi, yet Umahi remains humble, while Wike subjects Nigerians to his tautological press conferences as if he is running his own federal government, rather than being under anyone’s control.”
Looking at all these three heroes of the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta, Dappa-Biriye symbolized different aspects of common traits and attributes such as diplomatic courage and integrity; Boro embodied revolutionary courage and youthful idealism; while Edwin Clark represented strategic courage and enduring advocacy. Dickson who had a confrontation with Akpabio during plenary over the emergency rule in Rivers State, has been a threat due to his vocality and eloquence in the Senate, advocating and defending the interest of the Niger Delta and the Ijaw nation for equity, justice and fairness to prevail.
