Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Today, my heart is filled with gratitude as we gather to celebrate a monumental occasion—the official launch of my book, “River Nun Declaration: Epic Discourse Of Two Statesmen.” Before diving into the essence of the book, it is only fitting to pause and reflect on the exceptional grace bestowed upon us by the Almighty God.
I extend my deepest appreciation to the distinguished guests who have graced this gathering: Your Excellencies, Sen. Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, and Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, his admirable Deputy. A heartfelt thank you to Hon. Kuroakegha K. Dorgu, our chairman for today, Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, our Chief Launcher and a proud representative of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, and the Vice Chancellor of Niger Delta University. Your support has made this event not only possible but also memorable.
As we gather here, we mark a poignant milestone in our history—October 10th marks nine years since our beloved leader, Chief D. S. P. Alamieyeseigha, left this world for the great beyond. For those of us who revered him as a leader, a visionary, and a relentless advocate for the Izon people, there could be no more fitting way to celebrate his legacy than through the pages of this book. My intention is to honor him, a man who dedicated his life to uplifting the Niger Delta region and its people.
In preparing this book, I took a reflective journey into Chief Alamieyeseigha’s life, documenting his heroic deeds during his tenure as the First Executive Governor of Bayelsa State from May 1999 to September 2005. While my personal admiration for him naturally led me to undertake this project, I must clarify that this narrative is not driven by the need to compare affection or dedication. Love for a leader is an expression borne out of the respect for what they stood for and their contributions to society.
The essence of my work is to share my findings—a product of dedicated research and documentation—without bias. It is a heartfelt tribute to a man who paved the way for our collective good. As the book unfolds, I ask that you view it not as a platform for grievances or critiques but as an oasis of celebration for our fallen hero.
As I embark on this writing journey, I acknowledge my inexperience in the art of storytelling. I invite you to join me in this endeavor, embracing the imperfections that may arise. This work is a labor of love aimed at breathing life into the significant moments that shaped the legacy of Chief D. S. P. Alamieyeseigha.
One of the principal aspirations of “River Nun Declaration” is to provide our present generation—and those yet to come—an authentic glimpse into the life and impact of Gov. Alamieyeseigha. I hope that when future readers reflect upon his legacy, they will hold onto the truth of the man who fought vigorously for his people.
Thank you all once more for prioritizing this occasion amidst your busy schedules. May the Almighty God continue to bless each of you abundantly.
With heartfelt gratitude, let us celebrate the life and legacy of a true statesman.
