Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! With immense joy and melody in my heart, I welcome you to this auspicious occasion in Ikibiri, Ogbo Kingdom.

The Nigerian civil war lasted from 1967 to 1970, a tumultuous period marked by both heart-wrenching struggles and unexpected moments of grace. Anyone who endured the war’s bitter experiences would unequivocally shun the idea of a second civil conflict. One such noteworthy event that emerged from this period was the Teintua, celebrated on a day that took many by surprise when Federal troops moved to liberate the Northern and Southern Ijaws from the grips of the Biafran enclave.
On a fine morning in August, precisely the 1st, troops arrived in Ikibiri seeking assurance of safety. Expressing our commitment to peace, we assured them they would be safe. Shortly thereafter, they proceeded to Anyama, where more Federal troops were stationed for peacekeeping. However, not long after, the sounds of gunfire erupted, highlighting the miscommunication between the opposing forces. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded; the community did, however, experience a moment of collective trauma.
In a terrifying flash of chaos, a baby named Napoleon Ketekete, barely one month old, narrowly escaped a stray bullet that found its way dangerously close to him. His home, located near the waterfront, bore the brunt of the misunderstanding. When his parents returned, they discovered him unharmed but shaken. As the dust settled, the community breathed a collective sigh of relief, grateful that the turmoil had passed with only memories to recount. BRAVO!!

The 5th of August is not merely a reminder of gunfire but marks the Ogbo Erein festival, a significant moment of joy as we commemorate our resilience alongside our liberation. We now celebrate in freedom, secure and unshackled from the past.
Let us revel in the spirit of enthusiasm, acknowledging the progress we have made since those dark days. Under President Bola Tinubu’s agenda for transparency, we have emerged victorious. I urge our youth to embrace peace and remain focused on building a brighter tomorrow. My heart is filled with hope as Douye Diri strives to create a flourishing future for us all.
Once again, I extend a warm welcome to you all in the ancient town of Ogbo. May this festival inspire unity and joy, and may we continue to cherish our heritage while fostering peace.

God Bless You.
