According to him, the United States “successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolás Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country.”
He added that the operation was conducted in conjunction with U.S. law enforcement agencies and promised to release more details soon.
Trump also announced that he would address a news conference at 11 a.m. at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
The claim comes months after the U.S. government increased the reward to $50 million for information leading to Maduro’s arrest over alleged involvement in international drug trafficking.
In 2020, during Trump’s first administration, the United States indicted Maduro and several senior Venezuelan officials on drug-related and corruption charges.
