The three blasts occurred on Monday evening, following an earlier attack on a military post between Sunday night and Monday morning, which authorities attributed to suspected jihadist fighters.
Alongside the assault on the military position and a mosque bombing in December, the recent attacks have disrupted a period of relative calm in the city, which had been considered a fragile oasis of peace as Nigeria’s long-running insurgency was largely pushed into rural areas.
Militants from Boko Haram and the rival jihadist faction Islamic State West Africa Province have recently intensified attacks across northeastern Nigeria.
Their 16-year insurgency, aimed at establishing a caliphate, has claimed more than 40,000 lives and displaced approximately 2 million people.
