Nasir Isa Kwarra, fnsa, welcomed a delegation from the World Bank. Led by Mr. Utz Pape, Lead Economist, Poverty and Equity Global Practice, the delegation visited the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja with the aim of exploring potential areas of collaboration and support from the World Bank.

The primary focus of this visit was to enhance the development of statistical data in Nigeria, thereby improving the accuracy and reliability of data for evidence-based policymaking, sustainable development, and poverty reduction. The meeting marked the beginning of a productive exchange of ideas, laying the foundation for future cooperation between the National Population Commission and the World Bank.
By joining forces, the Commission and the World Bank seek to bolster the country’s data infrastructure and ensure that decision-makers have access to timely and reliable information. This partnership promises to provide the necessary tools and resources to enable informed policymaking processes that drive sustainable development and alleviate poverty.

Through this collaboration, Nigeria can tap into the expertise and experience of the World Bank, a global leader in poverty reduction and development initiatives. The World Bank’s support will help Nigeria bridge any gaps in its statistical data, improving its ability to assess various sectors, evaluate social welfare programs, and identify areas of intervention.
As the partnership progresses, the National Population Commission and the World Bank will work closely to establish mechanisms for data collection, analysis, and dissemination. This will involve leveraging modern technology, adopting best practices, and building capacity within the Commission to ensure the continuous improvement of statistical data quality.

The fruitful discussions during the visit have set the stage for an exciting future that aims to transform Nigeria’s data landscape. By collaborating with the World Bank, the National Population Commission remains committed to advancing evidence-based policymaking, poverty reduction, and sustainable development in Nigeria.
Together, these two entities are poised to make a significant impact on Nigeria’s statistical data infrastructure, empowering decision-makers with accurate and reliable information in the pursuit of a better future for all Nigerians.
