The delegation, led by the Director-General of the network, Mr. Jonathan Gilbert Apreala (BDK), said the visit formed part of preparations for the official inauguration and kickoff of the group’s statewide grassroots campaign in support of candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Apreala said the purpose of the meeting was to formally notify the Commissioner of the planned inauguration and invite her to grace the occasion. He explained that the event would mark the commencement of an extensive grassroots mobilization campaign aimed at consolidating support for APC candidates across Ogboin Kingdom and other parts of Bayelsa State.

According to him, the network remains committed to promoting active political participation and ensuring widespread grassroots support for the party’s candidates, including Hon. Dr. Coronation Edward Tokpo, APC candidate for Southern Ijaw Constituency I in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly; Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, APC candidate for the Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives; and Senator Konbowei Benson, APC candidate for the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District.

Responding, Hon. Joanah Gigi applauded the leadership and members of the Ogboin Ibe Grassroots Political Network for their commitment to strengthening democratic participation at the grassroots level.

She described the initiative as timely and strategic, emphasizing that grassroots mobilization remains one of the most effective tools for building public confidence and achieving electoral success.

The Commissioner expressed confidence in the network’s ability to positively influence the political landscape of Southern Ijaw and Bayelsa State through peaceful, issue-based engagement. She also assured the delegation of her full support and confirmed her readiness to attend the official inauguration and kickoff ceremony.

The meeting ended on a cordial note, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to promoting unity, inclusive political participation, and sustainable development while working towards the success of the APC and its candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The planned inauguration is expected to bring together party leaders, stakeholders, youths, women, and supporters from across the Ogboin Kingdom and beyond as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
