AIG Adenola made the call during his retirement thanksgiving service held at the Chapel of Wonder Zone 16 in Yenagoa on Tuesday.

At the special thanksgiving service organised by the Zone 16 Church Fellowship in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, AIG Johnson Oluwole Adenola, who retired meritoriously from the force, arrived at the venue alongside his wife and was warmly received by guests and officers of the zone.

The occasion was marked by goodwill messages, as the leadership of the fellowship commended the distinguished service of the retired AIG. Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, ASP Egoh Oghenekaro, welcomed guests and thanked them for honouring their boss, describing his career as exemplary and worthy of emulation. He was supported by ASP Chinedu Dorothy.

Clergy members who officiated at the ceremony also praised the retired AIG for his laudable achievements during his tenure as AIG of Zone 16. They prayed for continued divine favour upon his life in retirement, noting his generosity to the fellowship, including the donation of a band set and other acts of benevolence.

Speaking with journalists, AIG Johnson O. Adenola (PSC) described his rise to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General as a “product of grace.” He revealed that his name was not widely known in his community during his early years in the Nigeria Police Force, adding that his parents named him Oluwa, meaning “the grace of God.”

Highlighting his achievements, Adenola disclosed that over 10 hectares of land had been allocated to Zone 16 by the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, for development. He noted that work is ongoing at the Bayelsa Palm area in Yenagoa, the state capital, and pledged to continue supporting the project even in retirement to ensure its completion.

The retired AIG also stated that he took deliberate steps to sanitise Zone 16 upon assuming duty in Yenagoa. He urged young officers to embrace ongoing reforms in the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that the current IGP has much to offer in strengthening the institution.

He further advised officers to remain patient and diligent in their duties, attributing his successful career to the unwavering support of his wife, whom he described as a stabilising influence that enabled him to achieve his goals.
