Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The position of President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) may seem enviable, but it is saddled with enormous responsibilities. It therefore requires steady hands, a focused mind with the ability for strategic thinking to deal with complex situations, and above all, the maturity to make informed decisions with sufficient circumspection.

This is because the entire Ijaw ethnic nationality entrusts its collective destiny to the leadership of the President of the INC to pilot its affairs. Hence, there is a compelling need for the Ijaw Nation to be cautious and discerning in choosing a leader who embodies the requisite attributes for effective leadership.
The Ijaw people need a leader who exudes genuine confidence, demonstrates mental alertness, possesses strong and positive visibility, and has a proven record of leadership. Above all, such a leader must be a good listener with an independent mindset.
Unfortunately, some perennial jobbers who, in their illusion, see themselves as owners of the INC have gone to town with the false narrative that the President of the INC does not need to be visible to lead. This notion is not only ridiculous but also completely out of sync with reality.
The Ijaw people are well aware of their antics and schemes. Their intention is to operate as “shadow presidents,” directing the affairs of the INC from behind the scenes. These same individuals are also insinuating in some quarters that Professor Osaisai’s refusal to be stampeded into joining protests and the attendant court processes against the INC over the clearance and inclusion of candidates earlier not cleared was a sign of desperation for leadership. Such reasoning lacks depth; it is both absurd and mischievous.
On the contrary, Professor Osaisai has at heart the overriding need for unity and oneness among the Ijaw people. He abhors divisive tendencies, recognizing them as mere distractions from the larger goal of progress.
The intervention of the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, and the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Dr. Peter Akpe, has led to reconciliation among the parties and the restoration of peace for the conclusion of the INC electoral process. This development is commendable and has helped restore honour to the Ijaw Nation.
This positive outcome has also vindicated the position of Professor Osaisai. He remains focused and is not swayed by frivolities. In doing so, he has demonstrated maturity and leadership, as well as a flexible disposition toward resolving internal disputes.
Indeed, the Ijaw Nation needs men of intellect, maturity, clarity of mind, and diplomatic finesse to pilot its affairs. Professor Franklin Erepamo Osaisai embodies these qualities.
