According to the Director-General of the Ijaw Cultural Heritage Centre (ICHC), Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei, “The atmosphere was electrifying as songs of welcome echoed through the air, and banners of gratitude waved proudly. For many Bayelsa youths, the visit was apolitical — it was a homecoming of a father figure whose life and leadership have defined a new chapter in the Niger Delta story.”
During his visit, High Chief Tompolo paid a courtesy call on former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at his country home in Otuoke. The two leaders exchanged warm pleasantries and discussed the continued peace, progress, and development of the Niger Delta. Their meeting symbolized unity, wisdom, and the enduring bond of vision shared by leaders who have sacrificed for the emancipation of their people.
Continuing his tour, Tompolo also inspected the ongoing Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Secretariat project in Yenagoa — a landmark initiative funded by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. Once completed, the edifice will stand as a beacon of empowerment, symbolizing the commitment of the Ijaw nation to self-determination, unity, and purposeful leadership.

The mammoth crowd of youths that welcomed him reflected the deep admiration and hope his name evokes. They chanted songs of praise, waved the Izon flag proudly, and expressed gratitude for his tireless contributions to peace and progress in the region.
Apostle Bodmas further noted that Tompolo’s visit was more than a ceremonial event: it re-ignited the zeal of youths to aspire for greatness, dream beyond boundaries, and channel their energy toward productive ventures that will sustain the future of the Niger Delta.

“As the sun set, one thing was certain: Tompolo’s presence had once again awakened the heart of Izon youth. His leadership continues to inspire, his name commands respect, and his mission for peace, progress, and empowerment remains a guiding light for generations yet unborn,” Bodmas added.
