Since his election to the House of Representatives, the Member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, has continued to pursue projects and interventions aimed at addressing development needs across the constituency.

Among the interventions attributed to his representation are the renovation of six dilapidated classroom blocks in Enewari; the construction of modern public toilets and a solar-powered borehole in Igeibiri; and self-reliance and empowerment programmes in Anyama and Oporoma, among other initiatives.
His legislative activities have also included sponsorship of bills seeking the establishment of tertiary institutions in Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency. The APC’s profile of Ambaiowei, for example, identifies a bill proposing the establishment of a Federal College of Education in Oporoma.
His educational support programmes, health interventions, scholarships and economic assistance to individuals and families across Constituencies 1, 2, 3 and 4 have also formed part of the interventions attributed to his representation. EMTV previously reported that a medical outreach associated with Ambaiowei was conducted across several Southern Ijaw communities in January and February 2026.
The lawmaker’s current efforts include the renovation and rehabilitation of dilapidated school facilities and staff quarters at Government Secondary Schools in Otuan, Peremabiri and Oweikorogha.
When plans for the projects were announced on social media, some political commentators questioned whether the initiatives were primarily campaign-related. Supporters of the projects, however, welcomed the development, noting that school rehabilitation had featured among Ambaiowei’s development commitments.
According to Ambaiowei, contracts for the projects were awarded and workers mobilised to the sites. Photographs from the project locations show renovation and reconstruction works progressing in Otuan, Peremabiri and Oweikorogha. EMTV reported in August 2026 that rehabilitation works had commenced at the three locations.
The projects also include the provision of classroom furniture and books for students, as well as furniture for staff quarters.
According to the lawmaker, the objective is to provide a conducive and safer learning environment for students and teachers while improving educational facilities across Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency.
He said the interventions are intended to contribute to better learning conditions and create opportunities for a brighter future for children in the constituency.
With the projects progressing across the three communities, attention is now focused on their completion and eventual impact on students, teachers and the wider communities. The developments also come as Ambaiowei seeks another term in the House of Representatives.
