In a press statement signed by Chief Julius Bokoru, it was revealed that unscrupulous individuals have been fraudulently using fake Facebook accounts bearing the identity of Dr. Mrs. Alanyingi Sylva to deceive and extort money from unsuspecting members of the public.

The statement described the First Lady as “a woman of honour, integrity, and compassion,” emphasizing that her values are firmly grounded in service, dignity, and respect for the people. It further clarified that she does not engage in any form of financial solicitation, nor does she make personal requests for money or communicate privately with individuals through unauthorized social media platforms.

“The general public is strongly advised to disregard any message or request from such fake accounts, particularly those demanding money, personal information, or offering favours in exchange for financial contributions,” the statement read.

The media office urged citizens to exercise caution and vigilance in their online interactions, stressing the importance of verifying sources before responding to any communication purportedly from public figures.

Additionally, individuals seeking to contact or engage with Dr. Mrs. Alanyingi Sylva have been directed to use only verified and officially recognized communication channels. The office reiterated that all legitimate engagements are conducted through authorized representatives.

The statement concluded with a call on the public to promptly report any suspicious accounts or fraudulent messages to relevant authorities and to Facebook, as part of efforts to curb the rising trend of online impersonation and cyber fraud.

This development highlights the growing concern over digital identity theft and the need for increased public awareness to prevent exploitation by cybercriminals.
