The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council, Mr. Tonye Yemoleigha, alongside other leaders of the Council, on Wednesday received the new Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Ajao Adewale, at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre in Yenagoa.

The visit provided an opportunity for the NUJ leadership and the new Police Commissioner to discuss ways of strengthening collaboration between journalists and the police toward promoting peace, security and public safety in Bayelsa State.
Speaking on the visit, the NUJ Chairman said the discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between journalists and the police to build a safer and more secure state.
“Our fruitful discussions centred on increased collaboration between journalists and the police towards a safer and more secure Bayelsa State.
“On behalf of the leadership and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the media in Bayelsa State, I thanked CP Adewale for the visit and assured him of journalists’ preparedness to always work in synergy with officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force for the common good and prosperity of Bayelsa State and its people.”
Yemoleigha expressed optimism that the engagement would further strengthen the relationship between the media and the police, particularly in the areas of responsible information dissemination, public awareness and security reporting.
