Bayelsa — The OEB Activated Group has announced a change in its leadership structure following the resignation of its former Coordinator, Mr. Ovie Amax, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his subsequent decision to disassociate himself from the OEB Political Family, the parent body of the group.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed electronically by the Secretary of the OEB Activated Group, Comrade Jimmy Calmday, Esq., who explained that the leadership had deliberately taken time to consult before announcing a replacement.
According to Calmday, the development surrounding Amax’s resignation came as a shock and required a measured response, particularly because of the group’s name and its affiliation with the Bayelsa State Director of the City Boy Movement, His Highness (Chief) Osomkime Edward Blankson, Esq.
“While this came as a shock and needed immediate response, I decided to thread carefully due to the fact that our organisation bears the name and directly affiliates with the Bayelsa State Director, City Boy Movement, HH. (Chief) Osomkime Edward Blankson, Esq.,” the statement said.
The Secretary disclosed that consultations were subsequently held with some leaders and the NGO Director of the City Boy Movement, Bayelsa State, following which a decision was reached to appoint Mr. Robinson Gift as the interim Coordinator of the OEB Activated Group.
Calmday said the interim leadership arrangement was necessary to ensure continuity of the group’s activities, particularly its participation in ongoing political engagements and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“It was agreed that, in the interim, Mr. Robinson Gift should act as Coordinator of the OEB ACTIVATED GROUP to ensure our involvements and participation in the current political engagement and campaign towards the forthcoming 2027 general election,” he stated.
The group’s leadership consequently called on all members, Local Government Area (LGA) coordinators and other stakeholders to recognise the new interim Coordinator and extend the necessary cooperation and support to him.
“Therefore, all members, LGA coordinators, and stakeholders should take note and accord the new Coordinator all the needed support,” Calmday appealed.
He added that a meeting of the group would be convened soon to deliberate on its activities and provide further direction.
The appointment of Robinson Gift is expected to provide leadership continuity as the OEB Activated Group prepares to sustain its grassroots political engagement and mobilisation towards the 2027 general elections.
