Speaking after participating in the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District primary election at Sampou/Kalama Ward 6 in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, Governor Diri said the exercise was part of the ongoing internal democratic process of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the governor, the primary election, which was conducted simultaneously across the three senatorial districts, witnessed a peaceful atmosphere similar to the House of Representatives primaries held last Saturday.

“This morning, in continuation of the primary elections of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), I participated in the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District primaries in my Sampou/Kalama Ward 6, in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, to select our candidate for the 2027 election,” Diri stated.

“The stakeholders in the Central Senatorial District have resolved to return the incumbent Senator, Friday Konbowei Benson, for another term,” he said.

Governor Diri commended party leaders, delegates and faithful for their commitment to the process and for maintaining peace throughout the exercise in the state’s 105 wards.
