Ambaiowei Initiate Moves to Resolve the Amassoma Chieftaincy Tussle

Hon. Engr. Rodney Ambaiowei, a member of the House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, has taken decisive action to address the long-standing Amananaowei crisis in Amassoma community, located in Southern Ijaw LGA.

In a town hall meeting attended by stakeholders, including Acting Amananaowei, HRH Godwill Akedesuo, and his chiefs council, compound chiefs, men, women, and youths of Amassoma, Hon. Rodney emphasized the urgency in resolving the ongoing conflict surrounding the Amananaowei stool in the community.

Following fruitful deliberations, two resolutions were reached:

Firstly, a constitution review committee headed by Barr. Tony Azebi, alongside other lawyers from Amassoma, was entrusted with the task of examining all draft constitutions within a two-week timeframe and presenting their findings to the community.

Secondly, a committee was established to develop a framework for the selection process of the next Amanana-owei of Amassoma community.

Additionally, Hon. Rodney recommended the formation of a committee comprising three members from each Ama in Amassoma (a man, woman, and youth), who will be responsible for proposing guidelines within two weeks for the selection of the next Amananaowei. The ultimate aim is to foster the progress and development of the community.

Numerous speakers expressed their gratitude to Hon. Rodney for spearheading this initiative to restore peace in Amassoma.

Lastly, Hon. Rodney held a closed-door meeting with Acting Amananaowei, HRH Godwill Akedesuo, and his rival, HRH Carpet Bate, intending to maintain harmony during the upcoming Amassoma Seigben Festival and the selection process for the next Amananaowei.

Mrs. Bidei Elizabeth, Chief Abel Ebifemowei, Mrs. Grace Fiepere, Mrs. Apretari Ogugu, Mrs. Preye Naingba, President of Ijaw Women Connect, Engr. Charles Ambaiowei, Hon. Vivian Ere, Senior Commander Abaye Ambaiowei, Engr. B.k. Yeri, Hon. Asari Kerry, High Chief Aguobiri, Chairman of Ogboin North Rural Development Authority, Hon. Kuroakegha Dorgu, Archbishop Benson Sikpi, Collins Baker, Dr. Barr. Richard Ogbe, Dr. Godfrey Pondei, Dr. Isaiah Korikiye, Tonwariemi Embiowei, Hon. Douye Fyne, and Timipa Douglas Naingba, among others.
