Delivering his judgment in the ongoing terrorism trial, Justice Omotosho found Kanu guilty on counts three, four, and five of the seven-count charge brought against him by the Nigerian Government.

The judge held that the prosecution presented credible evidence showing that Kanu belonged to IPOB, which has been proscribed, as well as its affiliate security outfit, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

He further ruled that the prosecution proved that Kanu, through multiple broadcasts, incited his followers to commit acts of violence that resulted in the killing of security personnel and the destruction of property, including police stations across the country.
