The coronation ceremony, held on Saturday, marked a significant moment for the riverine community as Dr. Ogbuku formally assumed the traditional title of Daufa VI of Ayakoro Community, succeeding the late monarch six months after his passing.

According to Dr. Ogbuku, his emergence followed the provisions of the Ayakoro Community Constitution and reflected the confidence and appreciation of the people for his years of service to the community.

Writing on his verified Facebook page shortly after the event, the NDDC chief described the development as a moment that transcends titles and public office.

“Today, Ayakoro Community celebrated a moment that speaks beyond title, position, and public office. The community entrusted me with the responsibility of serving as its new Paramount Ruler, bearing the title Daufa the Sixth of Ayakoro Community,” he stated.

Dr. Ogbuku noted that he had previously served as Deputy to the late Paramount Ruler and pledged to lead the community with humility, fairness, and dedication.

He also announced that, under the supervision of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Micha Itekesi emerged as the new Deputy Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community.

Describing his coronation as a profound expression of appreciation by the people, Ogbuku said the honour symbolised the community’s recognition of his contributions and sacrifices toward its development.

“This decision by the people of Ayakoro is not merely an honour; it is a profound expression of appreciation and confidence. It is the community’s way of saying, ‘You have served, you have done well, and now we honour you,'” he said.

The NDDC Managing Director emphasized that genuine service to humanity ultimately earns recognition and urged the people of the community to remain united and committed to progress.

“For every road walked, every burden carried, every sacrifice made, and every effort devoted to the welfare and development of our people, this moment stands as a living testimony that genuine service is never in vain,” he added.

As he assumed the traditional stool, the newly crowned monarch sought divine guidance and pledged to promote peace, unity, dignity, and development in Ayakoro.

“May God grant us wisdom, patience, courage and clarity of purpose. We pray that our reign will foster peace, strengthen unity, uphold dignity, and accelerate the progress and prosperity of Ayakoro Community,” he prayed.

Dr. Ogbuku expressed gratitude to the people of Ayakoro for the trust reposed in him and assured them of his commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous, and united community for future generations.

The coronation of the NDDC chief has been widely regarded as a significant milestone for Ayakoro Community and a testament to the enduring relationship between leadership and service.
