Born on July 5, 1974, in Ibenikiri-Ama, Amassoma, High Chief Alalibo’s remarkable journey has become a source of pride not only for her hometown but also for Bayelsa State and Nigeria at large. Raised by the late Mr. Bolou Chronicle Sobai, Esq., and the late Mrs. Imomotimi Sobai, née Okorowanta, she developed early the values of discipline, hard work, and service that would define her future accomplishments.
Her educational journey began at Army Children’s School, GRA Port Harcourt, where she distinguished herself as Head Girl before proceeding to Government Secondary School Amassoma (GSSA). There, she graduated with outstanding results and served as Senior Prefect Girls, demonstrating leadership qualities that would later propel her to national prominence.
Determined to pursue academic excellence, she earned a Higher National Diploma in Accounting from Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Her pursuit of knowledge culminated in a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Accounting from Rivers State University, specializing in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Management.

Today, High Chief Alalibo stands among Nigeria’s accomplished accounting and auditing professionals. Her credentials include Chartered Nigerian Accountant (CNA), Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI), and Certified Forensic Accountant (CRFAC).
Her illustrious career has seen her serve in various strategic capacities within the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), where she currently serves as Management Staff. She has also participated in numerous executive development programmes and authored scholarly publications recognized both locally and internationally.
Speaking on the value of education and self-development, associates of the new DOA President describe her as “a shining example of what determination, discipline, and continuous learning can achieve.”

Beyond her professional achievements, High Chief Alalibo is widely respected for her humanitarian work. Through the Ovolifina International Foundation, which she established in 2007, she has empowered women, youths, widows, and vulnerable members of society through various intervention programmes.
“The true measure of success is not merely what one achieves personally but how many lives are positively impacted along the journey,” she has often emphasized through her philanthropic engagements.
Her passion for community development also inspired the establishment of The Adorables, the social arm of the Ovolifina Foundation, with active chapters in Amassoma, Yenagoa, and Port Harcourt. She further strengthened economic empowerment initiatives through the creation of the Goldrock Port Harcourt Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
Her contributions have not gone unnoticed. The Government Secondary School Amassoma Alumni Association celebrated her as the first female student in the institution’s history to attain a Ph.D., while traditional institutions have honoured her with prestigious titles, including Ere Pere I of Amassoma and Ebi Agboro I of Ogboin Kingdom.
Community leaders have described these honours as fitting recognition for a woman whose life has been dedicated to uplifting others and advancing the cause of education and development.

Married to Chief Hon. Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, Ph.D., Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, High Chief Mrs. Douyi Alalibo combines her professional responsibilities with a strong family life, serving as a devoted wife, mother, mentor, and community leader.
As she assumes office as President of the Daughters of Amassoma, expectations are high that her wealth of experience, visionary leadership, and passion for service will further strengthen the organization’s mission of promoting unity, empowerment, and sustainable development.
Her story remains a powerful reminder that with education, perseverance, and a commitment to service, it is possible to rise from a small community and make a lasting impact on the world.

“High Chief Mrs. Douyi Alalibo’s journey is not merely a personal success story; it is a testament to the limitless possibilities that emerge when knowledge, leadership, and compassion come together in service of humanity.” — Community Leaders.
